Have You Heard of the Two-Man Bench Press?

January 7th, 2007

What do you call this?
bench press

The Two Man Bench-Press - one man presses while the other deadlifts and screams ‘it’s all you man!’

A joke, but I see this every day in my gym or while I am training my clients. And the point is that your friend may think they are trying to help you or doing you a service. The truth is that they are not a personal trainer and they are encouraging improper form as well as risking your injury and the injury of themselves.

I offer a partner-up discount with all of my personal training programs that can allow you and your workout partner to enjoy the benefits of trianing with a friend while learning proper form and technique that you can take back to the gym with you and use while training together.

You can sign up or request more information at the SkyHigh Fitness website.

    Sammie,

I agree with your sentiment regarding the “spotter” and the poor form. Having trained for years with free weights I would agree that there are too many times when more harm than good comes from have the help with a lift.

But I have seen too many times where the lack of a spotter resulted in injury or “near injury”.

I think that more people should sign up for your partner up program. Just a shame you are not offering it in the UK!

    Mike

    Sammie,

Your partner-up program is such a fantastic idea! I hope that some people take advantage of this program, since it will save them possible injury and improve their gains in the long run.

I wish their was something like this when I first started lifting (way-back-when). I worked out for 5 years incorrectly before learning correct technique. Thankfully, I never injured myself.

I have seen far too many people in your picture above. I weight room is one place the ego does not belong. It is good the have a spotter and lifter have a sound base of knowledge. I have always found it funny that so many people think they know it all when it comes to weight training, those are the same people you see get hurt too.
