I was just reading the blog of a mentor of mine, fitness expert and bodybuilder Tom Venuto. Tom is the author of the book “Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle” which I personally regard as the bible of how to eat properly in order to effectively lose weight and keep it off.
Tom has commented on the new controversy stating that diet is just as effective for weight loss as exercise. However, Tom, and I as well, do NOT agree that it is the most effective means of keeping weight off in the long term. For lasting results exercise and proper nutrition combined are always the most effective method.

#1. I don’t have the time.
I hear people saying this all the time. While time is of the essence in life, your health is too. We only have one body and one life to take care of it. Putting off beginning your exercise program is another day lost, and perhaps 2 days if you consider how you can extend your life through good health and fitness. There is a great quote I once heard, “Those who don’t make time for health will have to make time for sickness.” Don’t waste any more time, there’s no time like the present to find a Toronto personal trainer and start working on your health.

January is almost over and already you begin to see people falling off the wagon with their workout routines. Five days a week is quickly turning into three and soon the average resolution setter will have long disappeared leaving the gym crowd-free once again.
Many of these people are lacking one simple element of motivation. They don’t have a strong enough reason WHY they want to lose the weight or get in shape. There is nothing to keep them going, there are no clearly defined benefits to continuing to go to the gym.
Do you have a strong enough why??

What do you call this?

The Two Man Bench-Press - one man presses while the other deadlifts and screams ‘it’s all you man!’
A joke, but I see this every day in my gym or while I am training my clients. And the point is that your friend may think they are trying to help you or doing you a service. The truth is that they are not a personal trainer and they are encouraging improper form as well as risking your injury and the injury of themselves.

Well, it is that time of year again when people everywhere tell themselves that “this year, I really will lose weight.” Of course, most of them said that last year as well.
That does not mean you can’t finally lose that weight this year though. What it means is you need to do it for the right reasons and with the right motivation. One way to do this is to write out your 2007 Body Blueprint.
Body Blueprint:
Laying the Foundation for your Ultimate Physique
Have you been exercising for years and still haven’t reached your ultimate physique?

Diet (nutrition) is worth 80% of you success in your exercise program. If you are not eating properly your results will be drastically slowed if not reversed. We have control over every bite of food that passes through our lips and we need to be sure that we are making the right nutrition choices in order to get the most out of our bodies.

With the holiday season comes parties, dinners, baking and usually some extra pounds. Try using these 5 tips for healthy holiday eating and keep your fitness goals on track.
ONE — Never go to a party hungry
When we are hungry we tend to eat faster and consume more of Mom’s oh so yummy shortbread cookies. Consider having a healthy snack or light meal before you go out to a party to curb those cravings and help prevent bingeing
TWO – Portion Control, Portion Control, Portion Control

A personal trainer is a health and fitness consultant who is hired for private instruction. Normally thought to be a service afforded only to the rich and famous, personal trainers are now available for a variety of people with a assortment of goals (and with a variety of budgets). A personal trainer will help his or her client develop and maintain a level of physical condition by designing a specialized exercise program for said client.
Personal training (toronto) is fast moving away (thankfully) from the image of having a personal trainer stand next to the athlete shouting at him/her to work faster/harder, without consideration of the wealth of variables that can be tweaked to ensure quick results.
